SOUTHERN CROSS MINISTRIES

Southern Cross Ministries was established in 2002 by Jim and Becky Newman. They, along with their two sons, started working in Toowoomba, Australia in 2004. After going and relieving Dr. Delroy Brown and his wife for three months, Jim and Becky received an invitation from Delroy to join he and his wife in their work in Toowoomba. Upon accepting the invitation to join their work, Jim and Becky started making plans. Shortly after that decision, the Hillsboro Church of Christ began looking for a "living link" missionary to bring on staff. The elders of the church, with support of the congregation, called Jim to the staff of the Hillsboro Church. With Hillsboro on board in their support, along with several other congregations supporting the work, Jim and Becky started making their plans and left in December of 2003 to begin their work in Toowoomba.
The work in Toowoomba is vast, with the International Bible Academy and the Church, along with other outreach programs that have developed since the Newman's arrival. Jim and Becky, along with Delroy and Merrilyn Brown are influencing many people for Christ. There are 17+ different nationalities represented in those who either are Christians and attend the church or academy, or are Christians making the congregation their home church.
The Bible Academy has opened many doors for Southern Cross Ministries. Not only are they reaching those who have been attending classes, but are now reaching out to several congregations and even those who have a firm belief in God, but have never been introduced to New Testament Christianity. The fields are certainly white unto harvest.
Now comes the part about Kerry Allen and Person to Person Ministries. In August 2005 and 2006, Kerry has traveled to Toowoomba and has taught for a month each year in the academy, as well as traveling to areas around Toowoomba and to the islands off the coast of Australia teaching in several of the churches that have been opened to New Testament Christianity.

Plans are for Kerry and Mona to continue their travels to Australia to work with Jim, Becky, Delroy and Merrilyn. Person to Person hopes that this blessed opportunity to share the Word of God will continue. If you would like to make a contribution toward these trips, please mail your gift to Person to Person Ministries and write "Australia Mission" on the memo line.
